Meeting minutes
According to Rob Leedom's records, we have a balance of $3,282.83 in our bank account.
Rod and Otto have verbally agreed in principle to the terms and conditions of Otto's employment as OARPO's webmaster. A concern mentioned by Otto was that of publishing on our web the photos of officers involved in our training programs. Doing this without a release from the individuals involved could result in compromising an officers' safety. It was agreed that whenever a training flyer was sent out, we would put in the notice that photos would be taken and that if any officer who did not want his or her photo posted on the web should let us know in advance. Also, we also agreed to verbally tell attendees at the beginning and end of each training of their right to deny us the use of their photo.
It was decided that in order to avoid any confusion, one person would be designated as the contact between Otto and the executive board. It was suggested that Liz Mulder would be an excellent source because of her computer expertise and position in the organization. Rod was directed to contact Liz and ask her if she would take on this task.
Bill Miller asked if the most updated bi-laws could be forwarded to Otto so that he could put them up on the web. Rod will ask Liz to email this information to Otto for insertion onto the web.
Otto suggested that we publish the names and web addresses of any donors we get who agrees to provide things for our 3rd annual convention. Everyone who solicits and obtains a donation should get at least a business card from the person donating any item/items and forward this information to the board so that we can include them on our web. Board members are reminded to get at least two donations each to be used as give-away items at our upcoming convention.
We discussed various speakers and training classes for our upcoming convention on March 3, 2007 at Portland Community College's Rock Creek Campus. Rod was directed to obtain and report the training classes and instructors to the board by the next meeting. Some of the classes under discussion are as follows: Dealing with the mentally ill, Sex Abuse, Transportation of Drugs across the Country, Range 3000, and Aviation Incidents. Rod reported that Liz has the names of several vendors who might be willing to set up a table at our convention. Rod will ask Liz if she would follow through with them and solicit their support.
Otto brought up the idea of advertising on our web for recruits for all agencies. Tom suggested further that we do joint testing. This matters were tabled for further discussion at a later time.
Various ideas and methods were discussed for increasing membership. This matter will be discussed in greater detail in the near future.
The following classes have been scheduled for the dates indicated:
Saturday, January 27, 2007, 0800-1200, Intoxillizer 8000.
February 10, 2007, Active Shooter
February 24, 2007, FST
Because of increased costs, the charge for each training class in 2007 will be $35.00 for OARPO members, and $45.00 for non-members.
Next meeting
DUE TO THE HOLIDAYS, THERE WILL BE NO MEETING IN DECEMBER. THE NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING WILL BE ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 20, 2007.
