Conference

Tom Freedland will draft a letter to go out to all agencies, and forward to Liz to print on letterhead and get mailed. Overall, the conference was a success, and a review of the conference evaluations were positive.

The Board endorsed the concept of establishing a definition of Reserve Peace Officer, rather than attempting to modify or insert Reserve into other sections of the ORS. Mark Meister was going to take a possible draft to Rob Bovett for review, and possible clarification. This will then be presented to various organizations representing peace officers throughout the state for their input and review.

Mark Meister will show the draft to Rob Bovett for input, and see if Rob can help write the legislation.

The video tape of the morning session of the conference will be made available to anyone who would like a copy. This includes: John Minnis, Chief Frank Grace, and Lincoln County Counsel Rob Bovett. Please let Liz Mulder know if you would like a copy which will be put on VHS. The cost of the tape and postage will be approximately $5.00.

ELECTIONS

The OARPO By-Laws need to be revised, and Liz agreed to work on this, and then will submit them to the board for approval.

Tom Killion was voted in as the temporary Vice President to fill this empty position for the next two months. The Vice President will lead the nominations committee in creating a slate of candidates for this year's election. If you are interested in a position please contact Tom Killion, Reserve Lt. West Linn PD.

Because of potential modifications to the By-Laws, the election committee will not look to nominate persons to fill the Regional Representatives slots at this time. Anticipated By-Law changes would make these appointed positions. To replace regional representatives on the Board, it is anticipated that positions for executive board members will be reflected in the changes to the By-Laws. Similar membership requirements would apply to the executive board members as currently applies to the regional representatives.
